Job description

Splash Damage are seeking to bring in a Senior Level Designer to the team working on their new Transformers: Reactivate title.

As a Senior Level Designer, you will be responsible for creating numerous levels for the game, taking them from the initial concept through to a final playable stage. Through this process, alongside the game director, you will be helping to set and define the game's level design pillars. 

You will regularly review feedback from playtests, enabling the team to drive quality in all areas of the game. You will know where to prioritise focus when iterating upon your layouts, ensuring the game’s needs are always met.

You will also mentor less experienced colleagues as well as collaborating with the Production team to assist with the planning and estimation of development tasks.

Splash now operate a 4-day work week, with all roles being in-studio Tuesday to Friday, giving you a 3-day weekend, every weekend!

The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role…
  • A deep understanding of level design principles including; flow, game balance, visual language, architectural composition, sign-posting, combat and encounter design, delivery / support of game mechanics, on-boarding, difficulty tuning and pacing
  • One or more years experience working in a senior design position
  • One or more shipped first/third person shooter or action titles
  • The ability to work collaboratively with other disciplines and experience of being a key part of a leadership group
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience of prototyping maps and gameplay mechanics using Unreal, Unity, or similar
  • Experience writing high quality and thorough design documentation including diagram and flow-chart creation
