Tanaka Mvere

Talent Sourcer

I was born in Zimbabwe. I moved to the UK in 2005, pretty much grew up here. Growing up I picked up some hobbies such as football, basketball and music.

I studied Sports Journalism at Leeds Trinity University and graduated in 2019. Passion for sports, mainly football, started when I was 8 years old when I joined my first Sunday league team. I am a Liverpool fan (not a plastic fan or a glory supporter though)

I like to socialise a lot, with friends and family and I also like to go to the gym.

Favourite Book: Vernon God Little by DBC Pierre

How did you get into games as a hobby?

NBA 2K. By far the best game created. This is the game that earned me the nickname catch and shoot king (please don’t quote me on this, I am actually not that great). The game brings out a different level of competition between yourself and your friends. There’s no such thing as rage quitting in this game, you either win and be happy about it (excessively to your opponents) or you lose with dignity.

What’s your career background?

I am coming from a retail background. I have been in the B2C industry for 5 years, before, during and after my education studies. Most recent place of work was at Footlocker, where I progressed into an Assistant Store Manager. Really enjoyed my time working for the company and made some great memories with the team.

Favourite memory so far?

Winning the league with the University team in my second year. On a personal note, this was probably my best season since I started playing the sport.
