Job description

We’re on the lookout for a 3D Animator to join the award-winning VFX team at a leader in the field of Virtual Sports. You’ll be joining a growing team as they work on new and exciting projects from their base in the heart of Manchester.

As a 3D Animator you’ll report to the Animation Lead and collaborate with a Senior 3d Animator as you enjoy plenty of creative freedom and the support of your Lead and colleagues, enabling you to grow and expand your skills.

Your role will involve animating characters and animals for a range of games in Maya, you’ll clean and blend motion capture data, and produce traditional key-frame animation. Ultimately, this is a creative role but without the crunch culture that is often common in the creative industries.

***This role can be worked onsite, hybrid or remotely from anywhere within the UK.***

The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role…
  • Proficient in motion capture clean-up and clip blending
  • Experience animating in Maya, particularly utilising and blending motion capture data in the Maya Time Editor
  • Experience utilising and blending motion capture data in Motion Builder
  • Experience in key-frame animation in Maya
  • Sound understanding of animation principles
  • Solid knowledge of camera animation and shot composition
  • Organisational skills and a good eye for detail
  • Good time management skills and be capable of working to deadlines
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and comfortable working within a team
  • Good knowledge of MS Outlook, Excel and Word
  • Knowledge of and/or an interest in sports would be beneficial
Desirable but not essential knowledge includes…
  • Custom bones rig building and skinning
  • General modelling, lighting and rendering in Maya
  • Tools such as 3dsmax, Adobe Photoshop, ZBrush and After Effects/Nuke/Fusion
