About the Role
The Game Assembly is seeking a Level Design Tutor to join our team in Liverpool.
In this role, you will play a key part in developing and delivering the Level Design curriculum, helping to shape the skills and mindset of future game developers.
Your responsibilities will include:
Delivering lectures, workshops, and practical teaching sessions
Preparing course materials and assessments
Supervising and mentoring students during game development projects
Supporting students through feedback, critique, and professional guidance
Collaborating with tutors from other disciplines to support multidisciplinary game projects
A core part of The Game Assembly’s educational approach is project-based learning. Students work in multidisciplinary teams to develop multiple playable games during the programme, simulating real studio production environments.
Projects are developed using Unity, Unreal Engine, our proprietary engine (TGE), and engines created by the students themselves.

You may currently be working in the games industry or have previous professional experience in level design. What matters most is your enthusiasm for sharing your knowledge and helping others grow.
Previous teaching experience is welcome but not required.
A clear and supportive communicator
Comfortable giving constructive feedback on design work
Curious, collaborative, and open to new ideas
Passionate about games and how players experience them
Essential Requirements

Strong understanding of level design principles including pacing, player guidance, spatial composition, and gameplay flow
Experience implementing gameplay through scripting or blueprint systems within a game engine
Experience working within a game development team or studio environment
The ability to analyse player experiences and provide clear, constructive design feedback
Desirable Experience
Experience using 3D modelling tools to support level creation
Experience creating training materials, tutorials, or documentation
Familiarity with Agile development methods or production pipelines used in game studios
Experience mentoring, coaching, or supervising others
If you’re passionate about games and enjoy helping others improve their work, we encourage you to apply, even if you don’t meet every requirement listed.
