Aardvark Swift are supporting the fantastic Flying Wild Hog in their search for a Network/Multiplayer Programmer.

As a Network/Multiplayer Programmer, you will prototype, develop and maintain network and multiplayer systems in the project. You might also work on server orchestration, performance optimization, live metrics, etc. The project's scope is wide, so you will be able to specialize in your preferred area.

Your roles and responsibilities...
  • Developing and maintaining gameplay systems related to networking and multiplayer in a client-server architecture (both on server and client)
  • Working on player matchmaking, server orchestration, and autoscaling
  • Debugging and optimizing network systems for optimal latency and bandwidth utilization
  • Coordinating multi-region and multi-environment game server deployments
  • Maintaining and improving backend performance monitoring and alerting systems
  • Adapting third-party tools, libraries, and APIs for networking

The skills and experience you'll need...
  • 3 years of experience developing server architecture and applications for online games
  • Deep understanding of client-server and P2P architecture, scalability, and security considerations
  • Practical knowledge of game backends
  • Understanding of low-level network APIs
  • Good Unreal Engine 4 knowledge
  • Strong C++ knowledge

Bonus points if you have...
  • Familiarity with Gamelift, k8s, and Go
  • Experience with matchmaking systems
  • Experience with multiplayer on Xbox/PS consoles
