Job description

Just Add Water are searching for an C++ Programmer to join their Leeds based studio. You’ll be bringing your passion for programming, and love of collaboration to a growing studio.

As a C++ Programmer at Just Add Water you’ll be working on a variety of projects ranging from their own IP development to co-dev work with external partners. You will be working alongside developers with incredible experience from studios such as EA, Sony, Sega, Rockstar, Romero Games, Codemasters, and Rebellion to name but a few.

Just Add Water is an award-winning studio with a catalogue of critically acclaimed titles to their name, including Sniper Elite VR, Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath, OddWorld: New'n'Tasty, Dr Who: Edge of Reality, Volume Coda, Micro Machines, Ice Age and Gravity Crash.

With a history of working on renowned IP titles Just Add Water develop high quality games and content for VR and next generation hardware. Their dev team is as diverse as the games they make, and the studio is proud of their ethos to champion everyone in their team, in all their creative glory.

The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role…

  • 3 or more years of industry programming experience with one or more shipped projects
  • Solid understanding of game engine architecture
  • Collaborative mindset and happy to work with other disciplines
  • Solid grasp on C/C++ language, programming fundamentals (OOP, memory management, multi-threading, data structures, time/space algorithmic big o notation analysis)
  • Experience in navigating largely complex internal native engines with limited to no documentation
  • Experience in research/documenting new technical features that comprehensively details the requirements and risks
  • Solid experience in architecting scalable systems and concise APIs
  • Proficient debugging skills using breakpoints, callstack and variable inspection
  • A degree in Comp Science or equivalent
  • Able to work in teams of various sizes
