Job description

Sumo Digital are searching for a Graphics Programmer to join them for their Unreal Engine projects at their Nottingham studio.

Sumo Nottingham develops multiple AAA projects with some of the world’s biggest publishers, with games such as Team Sonic Racing and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, as well as contributing to genre-defining titles like the Forza Motorsport, Horizons and Hogwarts Legacy.

In this role, you’ll handle the delivery and integration of robust graphical features and associated engine and pipeline functionality. In collaboration with their multi-disciplined development teams, you’ll also work on a wide variety of projects and tasks, contributing to the development of high-quality performant graphic systems.

Your responsibilities…

  • Implement well-engineered, reliable, scalable, and maintainable code across a wide variety of projects
  • Follow best practices, development processes, documentation, and coding standards
  • Devise innovative solutions to overcome platform constraints
  • Investigate bugs or issues in the graphics system when encountered
  • Mentor less experienced coders in your area of expertise, sharing knowledge and best practices
  • Assist in planning your work

The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role…

  • 2 or more years experience with C/C++ programming
  • Previous experience working on multiple titles
  • Demonstrable knowledge of graphics systems and processes
  • Good communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of a modern graphics API such as DX12 or Vulkan
  • Strong working knowledge of shader languages
  • Strong 3d math and problem solving skills
  • Broad knowledge of graphics pipeline, GPU artchitecture, and graphics techniques
  • Knowledge of profiling tools such as PIX, VTune, and Render Doc
  • Passion for graphics, games, and games technology
