Shani Owen

Recruiter - Graduates

Hi! I’m Shani and I joined Aardvark in August 2021. I’m 24, a libra and love country music (not even sorry, everyone needs to at least listen! Always happy to give recommendations too). I have a definite addiction to shopping at TK Maxx and love Eurovision. Music as you can probably tell is a key part of my life.

When did you start playing games?
I love playing games too. I can’t remember when I started playing games; perhaps around the same age I started school on the computers? Starting of course with more basic games and going from there. I love story-based games, and I think this is where my enjoyment for playing them comes from. I am a Zelda fan and a Super Mario fan. One of my favourite games however is Dr Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine as I have precious memories of playing this with my dad as a child.

What's your career background?
My career background starts with Tesco. I worked there for 4 years until I joined Aardvark. I had an interest in recruitment being such a people person, but I stumbled into games recruitment specifically. I saw an ad on my university careers page, and it sounded interesting so I thought why not go for it. The rest, as they say, is history!

Best condiment ever invented?
Ketchup, no arguments.

If you could pick up a skill in an instant, what would it be?
If I could pick up a new skill in an instant, I think I’d become really good at maths. I always struggled with it in school and would love to make my life a little easier (I always found any of the more day-to-day practical elements of maths harder).

What's your favourite cereal?
I’m admittedly a fussy eater, so my favourite (and only cereal I will eat) is non branded coco pops. The branded ones definitely have less sugar and I definitely have a sugar addiction.

Have you ever met anyone famous?
I’ve met a few comedians, my favourite to meet being Harry Hill! He was mine and my dad’s favourite when I was a child

Who's your favourite football team?
My favourite football team is Sheffield Wednesday, although some in the office may disagree (but they’re wrong)
