Job description

Plaion are actively looking to bring onboard a Head of Project Management to oversee and manage a wide variety of large-scale development programmes/projects including the rollout of global enterprise solutions (e.g. CRM systems) and to steer the development of Data Platform Projects (CDP, Data Warehouse, Data Lakes, Data Narts), as well as the migration of data from dated systems into newly designed architecture landscapes.

Additionally, you will be working on process improvements, implementing best practices throughout your areas of responsibility regarding how projects are initiated, executed and closed/maintained.

This position can be fully remote with regular visits to their Munich office.

Your responsibilities…
  • Lead internal teams, setting and ensuring quality standards, and delivering on the operational imperatives
  • Identify and implement process improvements to ensure projects are delivered according to their requirements and specifications within the established constraints of budget, time, scope, and quality
  • Ensure that the team works collaboratively and cohesively with internal and external teams and participates in departmental and company-wide strategic and operational planning forums
  • Ensure the plan of action/tasks for the team flexible, prioritised, continuous, relevant, and accurate based on the priorities set by the business
  • Own full ownership for direct reports of an internal team including annual leave, appraisal processes and performance management (setting project objectives and KPIs based on technical competences)
  • Support the team in managing projects with top-down oversight to ensure success as defined by adherence to their respective requirements and delivered within the established constraints of scope, budget, quality, and time
  • Communicate proactively with all involved team members to provide encouragement, identify problems, create solutions, and implement efficient improvements

The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role…
  • 7+ management experience in the IT field, including software development work and interactions with stakeholders
  • Degree in engineering, computer science, project management or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Strong understanding of project management
  • Experienced in modelling and rolling out process improvements and working with software development teams
  • Experienced in working in agile/adaptive project management framework
  • Comfortable steering large-scale and transformative software development programmes, involving multiple development teams
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in English (German a bonus) 
  • Experienced in using scheduling tools such as Jira
  • Excellent leadership skills and a background in line management, responsible for carrier development and mentoring of internal teams
