Job description

White Paper Games is looking for a Junior Programmer to join their Manchester based studio.

As a Junior Programmer, you will be responsible for assisting in the development of gameplay mechanics and features using the Unreal Engine 5. You will work closely with the development team to ensure that the games you work on are engaging and immersive.

In this role, you will be applying your C++ coding and Blueprint scripting ability in Unreal Engine 5, and utilising your understanding of mathematics, trigonometry, algebra, and matrices.

You will have the opportunity to grow your skills and knowledge through hands-on experience and mentorship from experienced programmers, working in a collaborative and supportive environment where your ideas and contributions will be valued.

The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role…
  • Ability to code in C++
  • An understanding of Unreal Engine
  • Experience of working on independent titles either in an extra-curricular or professional context
  • Independent mindset with ability to assess work critically and self-prioritise
  • Communicative and open to critique and contribution to discussion
  • Good understanding of mathematics, trigonometry, algebra, understanding of how to utilise matrices
  • An interest in developing for games consoles and working with the APIs necessary to release products on multiple platforms
Desirable but not essential…
  • Understanding of AI concepts and working methodologies
  • Experience utilising UMG
  • Experience creating tools to be used by non-programmers
  • Experience releasing for console and working with platform APIs
  • Experience in game development
