Job description

We're working with Splash Damage to locate a Lead AI Engineer to join their team. If you are an expert in C++, enjoy collaborating across departments to shape great AI-driven game experiences and thrive leading and mentoring a team, then this is the role for you.

As a Lead AI Engineer you will be responsible for leading and nurturing a team of Programmers to implement quality AI and gameplay features. You will also work with project leadership to plan long term roadmaps and improve development processes as well as working closely with design and engineering departments to help make their ideas come to life.

Your responsibilities...

  • Implementing new AI and gameplay features within a multiplayer environment

  • Provide rapid prototyping and iterative agile development to help other disciplines realise their ideas

  • Identify risks, build roadmaps, and provide mentorship to your team

  • Engaging with architecture design to implementation with the aim of working towards creating the best player experiences

The skills and experience you'll bring to the role...

  • Expert level of knowledge in C++

  • Professional experience iteratively implementing AI features from inception to delivery

  • Experience in feature design, planning, establishing roadmaps, implementation and bug fixing

  • A deep understanding of AI behavioural and navigational techniques along with an interest in researching and implementing new AI related tech

  • A sound understanding of game-development related 3D maths principles

  • Leadership skills and the ability to manage and provide mentorship to a team of programmers to foster their development

  • Be proactive to identify risks and blockers
