Aardvark swift is supporting Smilegate Barcelona in their search for an experienced Senior or Lead AI Programmer, to build and lead a team of highly skilled AI programmers and foster a culture that balances productivity, innovation learning, and healthy communication.
As the Lead AI Programmer your responsibilities will include…
Collaborate with Programming and Design Leads to build a structure supporting rapid prototyping and long-term code stability
Coordinate with QA and Gameplay Leads to define a coding environment to balance rapid iteration with stability
Be the representative and champion for the AI coding team to all other parties
Coordinate AI coders establishing code guidelines, quality goals and performance budgets
Work with the Combat, World, and mission design teams to make sure they have efficient tools
Analyse, validate and incorporate feedback from the team and external user testing
Help build a world-class AI Programming team with involvement in the hiring process
Mentor, guide, and lead of your team
Provide meaningful 360 feedback through team meetings and 1 to 1 sessions
The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role…
Two or more shipped AAA games as Senior or Lead AI Programmer
Comfortable with hands-on work as well as leading and mentoring a team
Strong understanding of transforming design requests into NPC Behaviour
Sufficient design knowledge to work with Design Leads to help bring their specs in to a workable system
Strong working knowledge of gameplay and AI systems
Experience working with Unreal Engine on current gen consoles
Innovative thinker and a creative problem-solver
Ability to work in a highly collaborative, interdisciplinary, iterative environment.
Strong understanding of development processes, workflows, and tools
Set personal development goals for the team and foster a healthy learning environment
