Lead Lighting Artist (4 day week)

Splash Damage are looking for a talented Lead Lighting Artist to lead and inspire their team as they set the bar for map art.
As Lead Lighting Artist will use your understanding of lighting and composition to build upon the work of colleagues, enhancing and supporting their work. Within Splash’s multi-discipline art team, you’ll lead Artists, setting workflows, provide visual benchmarks and mentor fellow Artists.
You’ll be inspiring your team and setting the standard for map art while collaborating closely with the Art Director and other sub discipline Art Leads to ensure the maps are fun to play and look visually stunning.

Splash now operate a 4-day work week, with all roles being in-studio Tuesday to Friday, giving you a 3-day weekend, every weekend!
Your responsibilities will include…
Translating the Art Director’s vision into achievable scene lighting for both gameplay and cinematics
Building a lighting pipeline within the Unreal engine working with Technical Art and Engineering teams
Leading, motivating and inspiring a team of Artists while helping them to maintain quality, efficiency and consistency through feedback and mentoring
Establishing team processes and best practices
Coordination and collaboration with the project’s Production team and with other discipline leads
Maintaining performance requirements while ensuring a high-quality bar for the game
The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role…
Experience working on one or more shipped AAA titles as a Lead Artist
Experience building a lighting pipeline in Unreal Engine as a Senior or Lead Artist
Experience in games or film generating final lighting / rendering
Deep understanding of Physically Based Rendering and HDR pipelines
Mastery over the baked and dynamic lighting solutions in Unreal
Knowledge of Unreal Engine lighting tools
A solid artistic foundation in the application of tone, colour, and composition
An understanding of cinematography lighting fundamentals
Awareness of the emotional storytelling that lighting brings to a scene
Experience developing quality lighting under runtime constraints
Able to provide clear feedback and receive direction with humility
Effective communication skills
Comfortable with autonomy and taking the initiative
A critical eye for quality
Able to work 4 days per week in the studio in Bromley, or consider relocating to do so (with support)
