Job description

The independent games development and publishing company, IO Interactive, are looking for a talented Level Designer to join their team.

With studios located in Copenhagen, Malmö, Barcelona, and Istanbul, they are the creative force behind some of the most highly acclaimed multiplatform video games of the last decade. IO Interactive’s commitment lies in creating unforgettable characters and experiences, all powered by their award-winning proprietary Glacier technology.

Currently making Project 007, a ground-breaking James Bond video game, you will play a crucial part in crafting engaging experience. You’ll also be involved in all aspects of production, starting from the initial design of level layouts and gameplay prototypes, all the way to finalising the in-game implementation.

Your responsibilities…

  • Design and own specific levels, where your focus will be on delivering high-quality entertainment standards in gaming
  • Design, build, and script levels using IOI's proprietary tools
  • Collaborate with game designers and programmers to ensure the proper utilisation of mechanics and systems in levels, from prototyping to implementation
  • Collaborate with content teams to ensure that level playability and graphic elements complement each other
  • Take ownership of the player experience within your levels and advocate for the best possible experience with the rest of the team
  • Create and maintain comprehensive level documentation for the wider team
  • Conduct extensive level playtesting, reviews, and iteration to enhance the player experience
  • Manage and prioritise tasks and bug lists effectively

The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role…

  • Proven experience as a Level Designer in the video game industry, with work on at least one shipped title
  • Strong understanding of level design principles and theory
  • Experience creating levels for third-person (or first-person) action-adventure games
  • Proficiency in using 3D level editors and visual scripting for games
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to effectively coordinate with other disciplines to achieve a great level experience
