Job description

Legendary studio Rebellion are looking for a Principle Combat Designer to apply their expertise in weapons and combat and play an instrumental role in helping develop an as yet unannounced co-op strategy shooter game.

Rebellion is well known for its exciting 3rd person shooters, and your role will be crucial in continuing this legacy.

Your responsibilities…
  • Strive to achieve the vision and goals set for combat and weapon elements in the game
  • Collaborate with multiple departments to ensure a unified approach to combat
  • Ensure that combat design aligns with the game's target audience
  • Mentor Junior Designers in combat-related tasks
  • Influence the trajectory of systems and tools to ensure top-quality combat
  • Able to consider different courses of action and seek guidance when determining the best approach
  • Apply your understanding of the games industry to enhance work effectiveness
The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role…
  • Proficient in creating game design documents and prototype specifications
  • Industry experience as a Weapons/Combat/Game Designer at a similar level
  • Knowledgeable about the video game development process, including timely work and appropriate prototyping/iteration
  • Good understanding of production pipelines
  • Ability to apply an audience-aware approach to game design
  • Strong communication skills
  • Professional experience in multiplayer games would be advantageous
  • Knowledge of weapons, ballistics, and warfare technology preferred but not essential
