Job description

We’re working with Riyo Games in their search for a Senior Game Programmer to join their growing team. If you are a versatile technical expert and would like to collaborate with a talented global team to work on retro infused JRPGs that awaken childhood memories, then this is the perfect role for you.

As a Senior Game Programmer at Riyo you will make an impact in different areas from gameplay systems, to tools, to engine related features and contribute towards creating high level mechanics and systems as well as collaborating across disciplines to implement new content.

Riyo games are an indie studio with big ambitions to create fun, narrative rich retro JRPGs that will bring out the inner child in their players. Their latest project, Threads of Time, is a 2.5D JRPG inspired by Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy where you get to travel from the pre-historic era to the end of time. You will have the opportunity to be a significant contributor to this project and take ownership of game features.

Your responsibilities …
  • Architect, plan and implement new game features and systems
  • Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code
  • Contribute towards development strategies and provide time estimates for various initiatives
  • Apply clear coding best practices and create strong technical documentation
  • Find solutions to technical and developmental risks/obstacles that you have anticipated and identified
The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role...
  • Degree in software engineering, computer science or equivalent
  • 5+ years’ experience in game development
  • Highly proficient in C++ and a strong understanding of Unreal
  • Experienced in the development of gameplay, tools and/or engine systems
  • The ability to work with commonly used development tools such as Jira and Perforce
  • Well-versed in design patterns and software engineering principles
  • To demonstrate a high degree of self-motivation and resourcefulness along with excellent communication skills
