Job description
Sharkmob London are working with us as they recruit for a Senior Online Engineer to join their Online team and design, implement and iterate on new, exciting and scalable real-time multiplayer online features.
You’ll be part of the Sharkmob Online team and report to the Lead Online Engineer, and collaborate with the Engineering team, a multidisciplinary group working across all things technology.
Sharkmob was founded in 2017 and has offices in Malmö and London, developing AAA-quality games for PC and console, using the Unreal Engine to power its ambitions of taking multiplayer games to new heights.
Sharkmob are working on two major projects: Exoborne – a Sharkmob original game created in Malmö, is a tactical, open-world extraction shooter set in a United States torn apart by apocalyptic forces of nature. The second project, being developed in London, is another original IP yet to be announced.

Your responsibilities…
- Ownership of online backend systems
- Work with a Dev Ops mentality - ready to run and support your own code
- Mentor and help less experienced colleagues
- Work closely with the Production team to inform project timelines
- Work collaboratively and communicate effectively to maintain engineering excellence and high quality across the code base
- Excellent programming knowledge and software architectural skills (Go/C#)
- Experienced with Modern Web frameworks, network protocols, protocol buffer, Api design and Cloud Services
- Ability to write scripts from the ground up for CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes and Terraform
- Design and optimisation for databases (Sql, NoSql and In-memory)
- Monitoring, alarms, unit and integration tests
