Tools Software Engineer (Remote Options)


Ballistic Moon - Farnborough, UK



Ballistic Moon are on the lookout for a Tools Software Engineer to help upgrade and maintain the studio-wide tool ecosystem, as well as provide assistance on construction of the project-specific tools pipelines, and ensuring the tools in place can scale as the studio continues to grow.


In this role, you will...
 
  • Upgrade and maintain the studio-wide toolset used across all projects, as well project-specific tools features required to aid the development of said project(s)
  • Help to identify and develop new features, tools and any additional work required in order to support the studio’s growth
  • Add and maintain features in the studio’s hub tool
  • Contribute to tools and features into Unreal Editor
  • Collaborate with the engineering, art & production teams


For this role, you will need...
 
  • Excellent understanding of software engineering and software design
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of tools pipelines, including working with and adapting to new cutting-edge software and technology
  • Proficiency in at least one of the following languages: C#, Python, JavaScript
  • Outstanding critical thinking and problem-solving toolbox
  • Clear communication and troubleshooting skillset
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new programming languages and paradigms
  • Capacity to own and manage large portions of a codebase
  • Ability to work well with other members of the development team and the founders
  • Proficiency in the use of modern IDEs
  • Be able to track, add and manage your own tasks proficiently using agile development
  • 5+ years experience in software development
  • 3+ years experience with C#, Python or JavaScript
  • Thorough background with creating and maintaining a platform of tools for a company


Bonus points if you have...
 
  • Experience in the video games industry (preferable a shipped title)
  • 3+ years with C++
  • Experience working within an agile development environment
  • A background with major AAA engines such as Unreal/Unity/idTech
  • At least one shipped title using Unreal Engine
  • Passion for gaming
  • Ambition
