Job description

Avid Games are looking to hire a Unity Programmer to join their remote-first mobile games studio. Founded in 2012 to pioneer the development of digital trading cards Avid are the creators of the award-winning Cards, the Universe & Everything (CUE Cards) - the only TCG to take the whole of the universe as its subject matter.

CUE Cards is enjoying rapid growth as it approaches its fourth year of operation, and so Avid are looking for a Unity developer who is an enthusiastic self-starter to join their mobile dev team.

You’ll be writing stable, efficient code, playing an integral part of a small, highly motivated team who have a passion for what they're creating. You will enjoy a high degree of autonomy and flexibility - but always with the support of a close-knit team. Avid are committed to achieving the best possible remote working experience for all their staff.

Your responsibilities will be…
  • Collaborating with all parts of the team to deliver stable releases to spec
  • Writing clear and easily maintainable code across all areas of the game
  • Contributing ideas and feedback on different aspects of the business, from design to marketing
  • Sharing methods and best practices with colleagues
  • Coordinating with QA to address bugs and improve game stability
  • Playing the game regularly to better understand the player experience

The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role…
  • 3+ years of professional experience as a Unity Developer
  • In-depth knowledge of Unity, C# design and architecture experience in OOP languages
  • Understanding and experience with build pipelines
  • Diligence and an eye for identifying potential problems before they arise
  • A passion for games (and card games in particular), and for improving systems
  • A solid understanding of git
