Job description

We’re working with Supersolid as they look to add an Animator to their expanding team and work across several mobile projects.

You’ll join a team of experienced animators, and help create, define, and drive the visual bar in live games as well as in new projects.

Supersolid are a leading mobile games studio with their base in Central London. They are a close knit and successful team that have delivered numerous much-loved games including the hugely popular Super Penguins which has amassed over 15 million downloads, and Adventure Town, which reached over 1 million downloads in its first 2 weeks!

As an Animator your responsibilities will be…
  • Create character animations for a variety of games and platforms
  • Work with different pipelines and be able to rig, skin and animate various 2D and 3D props and UI elements
  • Create concept videos for new features and ideas, working closely with artists and designers
  • Work closely with your team, art director and the team leads to define animation priorities and direction
  • Suggest improvements to the animation pipeline and tools, communicating them with programmers and external teams
  • Support other teams by sharing your knowledge across the studio when required
  • Support producers in planning, scheduling, and prioritising animation related tasks

The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role…
  • Experience as an animator creating appealing character and object animations
  • Strong understanding of animating in a 3D package, Max, or Maya and 2D in Spine
  • Solid rigging and skinning skills in both 2D and 3D packages
  • Knowledge of animation principles and an understanding of how animation works within game mechanics and game legibility
  • Experience animating UI, understanding the importance of the motion style and the optimisation of timings
  • Knowledge of technical constraints, optimisation, and implementation and building basic rigs
  • Comfortable with cartoony, casual, and mid-core styles
  • Effective communication and organisational skills
  • Comfortable giving feedback and direction as well as mentoring others
  • Proactive in learning and developing your skills
  • Experience creating special effects and using particle tools would be a bonus
