Job description

We’re looking for a Gameplay UI Programmer to join Rebellion and work on a strategic shooter title, where your skills in graphics and user interface programming will play a critical role in delivering an exceptional gaming experience.

You’ll work closely with colleagues in Art and Design to integrate art assets and ensure they align with the game's visual style and design, you’ll also implement cutting-edge visual effects, animations, and graphic elements to enhance the game's overall look and feel.

Your responsibilities will also include…
  • Collaborate with the development team to design, implement, and maintain gameplay-related user interface systems
  • Create and optimize UI components that enhance gameplay, including HUD elements, menus, and interactive overlays
  • Implement dynamic UI elements that respond to in-game events, player actions, and strategic choices
  • Work closely with Game Designers to integrate UI elements that enhance player feedback and overall game flow
  • Debug, profile, and optimize gameplay UI performance to ensure a seamless and responsive gaming experience
  • Develop and maintain tools and systems that empower content creators to efficiently design and iterate gameplay UI
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, continuously improving gameplay UI features
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address gameplay requirements and deliver high-quality UI solutions
The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role…
  • Experience of gameplay UI programming for video games
  • Proficient in designing and implementing in-game HUDs, menus, and interactive UI elements
  • 4 years’ experience using C++ and object-oriented programming
  • Understanding of player-centric UI design principles to enhance the overall gaming experience
  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment
  • Passion for video games and knowledge of the strategic shooter genre
  • Familiarity with game engines such as Unreal Engine or Unity is advantageous
