Expanding AAA studio Sharkmob London are seeking a highly talented Lead Combat Designer to work on a truly exciting up and coming project! You will be working alongside the Game Director and handle the development intuitive, responsive and highly satisfying combat loops to keep players returning over and over again!
The team is passionate about finding creative solutions to design challenges and responsible for filtering the game vision into individual features, levels, combat, quests and encounters. Collaborating closely with all other disciplines, the design team supports features throughout the full development lifecycle to ensure high-quality experiences are delivered on schedule.
The studio has aspirations to build one of the largest and most creatively ambitious development teams in the world. As a part of Tencent Games, both the Malmö and London office have the experience, backing, and ambition to build the games of the future.

Your responsibilities…

Your responsibilities…
- Define and maintain a vision for action RPG combat that results in a world class player experience
- Take ownership of the prototyping and in-build delivery of combat systems, across all disciplines
- Hands-on work with Unreal Engine to design, implement and fine-tune the moment-to-moment combat experience
- Regularly communicate and evangelise combat vision, goals and progress, to the wider team
- Work with production and project leadership to manage the scope of combat for the game
- Implement and maintain a healthy playtesting process to validate creative and design intent for combat systems, throughout the project’s lifecycle
- Shipped at least one title as a Senior or Lead Combat Designer
- 5+ years industry experience in combat design
- A passionate gamer with a love for combat focused games
- Excellent rapid prototyping skills
- Demonstrable experience delivering features that rely on timing and feel
- Broad knowledge of combat systems across games industry
- Familiar with the constraints of implementing combat in an online game
