Job description

Aardvark Swift are working with Splash Damage, supporting them with their search for a Lead UI Engineer to work on Transformers: Reactivate.

As a Lead UI Engineer at Splash Damage, you will establish and drive the technical design and implementation of the user interface, creating project roadmaps for UI engineering and plan sprints for your team, prioritising workloads effectively.

You’ll use and share your experience of UI development with your team, creating efficient and robust data-driven interfaces that commit to the core technical pillars of the project. You’ll also collaborate with other disciplines to realise their ideas through iterative UI development and are not afraid to dive into hands-on work when necessary.

You can expect a large degree of autonomy throughout the development cycle, motivating and coaching your team and creating opportunities for the growth of your Engineers along the way. You will also regularly collaborate with the project leadership team to solve any project-level issues and represent the UI both internally as well as to external partners when needed.

The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role…
  • Well-rounded people skills, an enthusiastic attitude and a team-first mentality
  • Proven technical UI leadership experience, setting a clear technical direction and best practices for at least one game project
  • Experience leading a UI team on a shipped project
  • Experience setting up UI pipelines and project documentation
  • Expert knowledge of C++, with professional experience
  • Practical UI implementation knowledge having worked with UI Design teams to understand and overcome technical limitations
  • Able to break down UI designs into core components with reusability in mind
  • Proven time management and organisational skills, project planning at roadmap and sprint level and effective prioritisation of workloads
  • Comfortable working without close supervision
  • Considerate communication and presentation skills, able to present clearly to all experience levels
Bonus points for experience with…
  • Unreal Engine and UMG
  • Accommodating player accessibility needs
  • Multi-platform and console development
Perks and benefits include…
  • Bespoke visa and relocation packages for you and your family
  • Industry-leading fully paid 30 weeks maternity leave and 10 weeks paternity leave
  • Substantial performance-related pay on top of your wage
  • Enhanced pension contributions and a Life assurance scheme
  • Private Medical and Dental cover for you and your family, along with a 24/7 digital GP service
  • 4 day working week (Tuesday – Friday)
  • 20 days of annual leave (5 weeks thanks to Splash’s 4 day work week)
  • Summer and Winter studio closure, 1st full week in August plus 24th Dec to 1st Jan (in addition to annual leave)
  • Extensive Mental Health support, with Line Manager Mental Health training, a group of Mental Health First Aiders, and on-site or remote counselling
  • Bespoke Learning and Development course framework to help you grow
