Lead VFX Artist (UK Remote)
Job description
We’re supporting a AAA studio in their search for a Lead VFX Artist to join their growing team of highly experienced devs, as they focus on creating the exceptional and innovative games of the future.
The studio are working with a AAA publisher in the early stages of a major new project as well as their own IP. As Lead VFX Artist you will ultimately deliver high-quality VFX and be the studio point of contact for all VFX knowledge. As Lead you will be responsible for overseeing all VFX work, be that created inhouse or outsourced.

Be an advocate for VFX and keep abreast of practices and peer products
Create well written VFX documentation with process examples where required
Work with Producers and the Art Lead to ensure a realistic project scope
Hold a high personal work standard and be the standard bearer for VFX benchmarks and targets for the studio
Own the design and implementation of VFX suite from start to finish
The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role…
5 or more years games industry experience including time as a Senior VFX artist or the acquired experience to elevate to a Lead role
Shipped a project throughout development cycle on console or PC-preferably in a Senior or Lead
Solid experience in games industry pipelines and VFX software, post Alpha optimisation, runtime optimisation and associated VFX animation workflows
Experience with pre pro methodology and transferring methodology to game pipelines
A thorough knowledge of VFX and VFX animation, cinematic, traditional or games
Strong animation VFX, with key experience using Maya, VFX software and game engines
Comfortable working with outsource teams and providing clear guidance
A positive, grounded attitude and a friendly and collaborative nature
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
Comfortable presenting VFX work, updates and pre-production work to the dev team and senior management
An interesting portfolio showcasing a solid knowledge of VFX, which ancillary knowledge of lighting and animation
Bonus points if you have…
Working experience in UE4, Unity and in-house game engines
Knowledge and experience with both gameplay driven and cinematic VFX
A keen interest in cinematography
Able to analyse and recreate VFX techniques using pre viz and compositing
Has worked within an agile development methodology
