We are supporting Sumo Digital's Nottingham studio in their search for a Senior AI Programmer to join their amazing team.
You will be responsible for the output and development of the AI programming team as the studio work on an exciting new multiplayer title. In this collaborative role, you will develop AI features and systems from the ground up, contributing to the programming team’s collective knowledge and help to architect, plan, and troubleshoot development, in order to deliver on the high-level vision for the game.
Your responsibilities will include...
Work closely with Code Leadership to plan, estimate, and write high-quality performant AI code
Work closely with Game and Level Designers, reviewing gameplay feature specifications and provide AI-specific insights where possible
Prototype and implement impactful and intelligent NPC and Bot gameplay features and systems such as path finding, movement, team logic, goal planning, memory, knowledge, crowds, and targeting
Investigate bugs or issues in AI systems when encountered
Mentor less experienced coders in your area of expertise, sharing knowledge and best practices
The skills and experience you'll bring to the role...
Excellent code design skills
Experience working on several titles, one of which was in an AI related role
Experience with Behaviour Trees, Knowledge Representation, Pathing & Traversal Algorithms, and Animation Blend Trees
Excellent C/C++ programming skills
Excellent 3d math and problem-solving skills
Knowledge of profiling tools such as PIX and VTune
Excellent communication skills
Experience in PC and/or console programming
Be self-motivated with high personal standards as demonstrated in quality and pride of work
Ability to create and own complex systems from start to finish
Experience using Unreal Engine 4 is a bonus
