Job description

Flix Interactive are a specialist in Unreal Engine titles and they’re looking to bring in a Senor Game Designer.

Having worked alongside some of the UK finest AAA studios, Flix are now working on the ultimate open world survival title and are seeking a Senior Game Designer to play a crucial role in developing mechanics and systems resulting in a truly satisfying experience for players.

Your responsibilities…
  • Lead the development of innovative gameplay mechanics, systems, and features that align with the game’s creative vision and narrative
  • Work directly with clients, take their vision and design / delegate features to our internal team and manage their development
  • Design and balance gameplay systems, progression loops, and other core mechanics to ensure a satisfying and rewarding player experience
  • Collaborate with writers and narrative designers to seamlessly integrate gameplay elements with the overarching narrative, ensuring a cohesive player experience
  • Implement strategies to optimize player engagement, retention, and overall satisfaction through effective gameplay design and mechanics
  • Continuously analyse and adjust game parameters, difficulty curves, and progression to achieve optimal player satisfaction and gameplay balance 
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior designers, nurturing their skills and fostering their growth within the team
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and iterate on game design elements based on feedback to achieve the desired gameplay objectives
The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role…
  • 5+ years of experience as a Game Designer in the video game industry, with a proven track record of contributing to successful game projects
  • Portfolio showcasing your senior game design expertise, including examples of gameplay mechanics, systems, levels, and any relevant game-related work
  • Proficiency in industry-standard game design tools and software, such as Unity, Unreal Engine, or equivalent, as well as design documentation tools
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to assess and improve gameplay elements, systems, and player experiences
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate seamlessly within cross-disciplinary teams and provide effective guidance
  • A deep passion for video games and a keen understanding of player behaviour and engagement mechanics
