Job description

We’re working with Material10 to find a Senior Programmer to work on Gameplay and AI programming, heading up the development of gameplay systems and mechanics in UE5.

This role can be worked remotely from anywhere as long as your working hours coincide with those of the UK based team, typically 9am-5pm GMT Monday – Friday.

Material10 are a publisher and developer who are creating fresh multiplayer games with a vision of transforming video games into digital nations. The studio is led by former execs from EA, Ubisoft, Trion Worlds and Epic Games.

Their new title 'Project Fallen' is a super unique, fast paced AA PvP shooter that blends TPS and RTS gameplay. Players create an army of different commanders and squads to compete against each other — switching between the two modes, giving orders to troops and taking control of commanders to push the intensity of the TPS combat.

It’s set within an apocalyptic future taking iconic locations (the Pyramids in Egypt, the Statue of Liberty in New York, etc) and transforming them to fit the world.

Your responsibilities…
  • Advance the development of gameplay systems and mechanics using Unreal Engine 5
  • Drive the implementation of game features, ensuring they align with studio vision and standards
  • Help identify, plan and allocate programming tasks in collaboration with the programming team and project management
  • Oversee the quality and performance of gameplay features and deliverables, ensuring they meet agreed standards
  • Act as a mentor for less experienced colleagues
  • Contribution to coding and development in Unreal Engine 5 across blueprints and C++
  • Collaborate closely with Designers, Artists and other dev teams to bring everything together
  • Adapt and respond to feedback, incorporating it into gameplay improvements and iterations
The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role…
  • 5 or more years games programming experience
  • Experience as an Unreal Engine 5 developer
  • Strong portfolio showcasing involvement in AAA, AA, or high-quality indie games
  • In-depth understanding of gameplay systems, AI programming, and Unreal Engine 5
  • Ability to work remotely with a diverse, global team
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Comfortable working in a fast moving environment with the ability to make decisions
Perks and benefits include…
  • Competitive salary and benefits
  • Equity in the studio, real ownership — both in your work but also owning part of the company and sharing in its upside
  • A chance to be part of a creative, innovative team driving radically new experiences in gaming
