Job description

We are supporting IO Interactive as they look for a Senior Gameplay Programmer to join them as they embark on the journey into the world of emergent multi-player, with a new unique project!

IO Interactive is an independent videogame development and publishing company with studios in Copenhagen, Malmö, and Barcelona. Famed for the creation of several AAA games including Hitman, Kane & Lynch, Freedom Fighters, Mini Ninjas, and their latest title, Project 007, they are committed to creating unforgettable characters and experiences.

Your responsibilities…
  • Work across multiple areas within the core gameplay domain such as characters, cameras, control scheme, weapons, items, abilities and progression, environments, and interactions
  • Work primarily in C++, creating code, systems, and visual building blocks for the sutdio’s designers to be used in Glacier
  • Interact and collaborate on shared technology with other adjacent domains, particularly animation, multiplayer, and AI
  • Collaborate with other programmers, designers, and content creators, to build and enrich the game, whilst adhering to the main vision set by the Game Director
  • Assist other gameplay programmers across the studio, to strengthen the shared codebase and build cross-project robust systems, in accordance with the long-term objectives set for the studio’s technology
The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role…
  • 5+ years of professional gameplay programming experience, preferably on multiplayer titles
  • Strong foundation and understanding of programming best practices
  • Hands-on experience with gameplay features implementation
  • Well-rounded in mathematics, algorithms, and data structures
  • Motivated, adaptive, and a team player mentality
Glacier, IO Interactive’s state-of-the-art engine technology, is part of their success as a studio. Built around visual scripting and hot-reloading to enable completely data-driven WYSIWYG game development, their game development engine was designed from the ground up to enable faster iterations on content creation, tweaking, and debugging. They have achieved this through a highly optimised Runtime Resource System, a powerful Live Editor, and an on-demand Asset Pipeline.
