Canadian indie studio, Riyo Games are working with us to find a Senior Narrative Designer to join their team as they develop their debut title, Threads of Time, a retro inspired 2.5D JRPG where players travel from the pre-historic era to the end of time!
Riyo are looking for a seasoned Senior Narrative Designer to join their team and add their narrative experience to the project and create compelling quests and adventures, to bring both the game world and most importantly the incredible characters to life.
You will take a strong narrative vision to the next level by creating evocative dialogue, compelling scenarios and objectives, multi-faceted, diverse characters, and time-bending, branching narrative content.
Riyo Games was created out of a shared love of JRPG’s, their goal is to craft retro-inspired JRPGs that bring back the most cherished childhood memories but brought right up to speed in the current age of gaming. Riyo have created a collaborative studio environment with opportunities to contribute to the game’s creative design and take ownership of features.
Please note, for this role you should based within Canada, in either Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia or Nova Scotia. If you're based elsewhere within Canada the studio can support you in relocating to Ontario.

Your responsibilities…
- Contribute creatively to the writing process, seamlessly integrating narrative elements into gameplay and writing from various voices and perspectives
- Collaborate across disciplines to develop stories and dialogue for compelling, multi-faceted characters consistent with the project vision
- Work with the leadership team on the function and presentation of in-game narrative content
- Assist colleagues, providing constructive feedback to achieve quality
- 7 or more years of narrative games experience
- Narrative experience on a RPG or JRPG
- A love and understanding of JRPGs
- Experience in creative writing, plot design, and writing dialogue
- Portfolio / writing samples demonstrating your ability
- Affection for JRPG's is a prerequisite for this role
- 4 weeks paid leave (1 week of which is taken in late December)
