Job description

We’re looking for a Senior Technical Artist to join the growing team of developers at Ballistic Moon, a studio that nurtures talent in a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive team culture as they work on a major project with a AAA publisher and develop their own IP.

As a Senior Technical Artist at Ballistic Moon, you’ll take an active role in shaping exciting and innovative projects working with Unreal Engine 5, defining best practices and pipelines and ensuring a smooth development process with suitable tooling.

You’ll be using your tech art specialism to own specific technical art tasks, developing, and completing them with minimal iteration, all the while sharing knowledge and mentoring team members when needed.

Your responsibilities will also include…
  • Collaborate with a multi-discipline team to actively drive problem resolution and content delivery
  • Deliver content on time and maintain the required quality level
  • Ensure content is performant, robust, and reliable without compromising quality
  • Provide constructive feedback regularly on your work and that of your colleagues
  • Share knowledge and mentor team members when needed
  • Ensure artistic style aligns with the defined visual style for the game
  • Identify changes to processes and tooling to improve pipelines
  • Contributing to building a positive, creative culture at Ballistic Moon
The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role…
  • Shipped a AAA title as a Technical Artist, completing a full development cycle
  • Ability to build and support AAA content to game requirements
  • Experience as a Technical Art Generalist with one or more areas of specialization like Tooling, pipelines, Unreal, etc
  • Skilled with Maya and Python programming
  • Experience using ZBrush, Substance Painter, general art pipelines, performance and profiling tools, Unreal insights, workflows, asset management
  • Experience working with Unreal Engine 5, including Blueprints, optimization, performance, and general knowledge of Unreal and its art processes and pipelines
  • "Enabler" mindset in supporting the project team, comfortable collaborating across teams and disciplines
  • Automation and system refinement skills
  • Ability to think out-of-the-box to overcome technical challenges
  • Experience working with change control software (e.g., Perforce)
  • Balance of creative/visual aesthetics and technical skills
  • Ability to inspire a team to deliver on a shared visual goal
  • Technical documentation experience is a plus
