Job description
We are supporting Variable State as they look for a Senior Unreal Programmer to join their team.
Their small, successful studio is growing; an award-winning indie games studio based in the UK. ‘Virginia’ is the studio's debut game, released in 2016; the game was nominated for multiple awards, including 4 Independent Games Festival awards and 3 BAFTA awards.
Your responsibilities…
- Hands-on prototyping, developing, implementing, and maintaining key game systems
- Deliver optimal solutions through creative thinking and technical innovation
- Follow best practices, development processes, documentation, and coding standards
- Work using Unreal Engine 5, in collaboration with the wider programming team
- Work closely with other disciplines
The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role…
- 5+ years professional game development experience
- Programming role on one or more commercially released game for console or PC
- Experienced the full development lifecycle, from prototyping through to post-release support
- Excellent C++, software design, optimisation, and debugging skills
- Solid understanding of multiple Unreal Engine technologies such as AI, Physics, Animation, and Rendering
- Strong communication skills with fluent English
- Previous Experience developing AAA titles on console and PC platforms
- Experience with other engines such as Unity, CryEngine, and GameMaker
- Strong understanding with C#, Python, Maya, 3DSMax, Substance, ZBrush, or other DCC tools
- Experience with Version Control software and Agile/Scrum methodologies
