Senior VFX Artist (Hybrid)
Job description
Rebellion are looking for bold, ambitious, and talented Senior VFX Artist to work on their upcoming games and with trusted industry partners on genre-defining AAA IPs. Working on their own in-house engine and other engines including Unreal 5, join them as they shoot for the stars.
You will be joining the talented Rebellion North studio based in their Wakefield location. Rebellion North is a dynamic and growing team who relishes challenges and punching above their weight. As a Senior VFX Artist at the studio, you will be working on creating industry leading VFX on exciting unannounced titles. Their dynamic and quickly growing art team is looking for a highly motivated individual to help nurture the team's growth and have maximum impact on their games.
Your responsibilities…
- Assist the lead to bring the team’s vision of the visual effects to fruition
- Create a set of key VFX concepts to sell the visual direction of the game
- Help to build a solid template library of assets that other members of the dev team can utilise
- Verify the quality of work and make improvements where necessary to fit technical constraints and artistic direction
- Be an active mentor and role model for your team
- Challenge and help redefine the technical and artistic process
The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role…
- Strong understanding of hardware limitations, minimising any need for optimisation work later in a project
- Understanding of VFX shaders and relevant maps created for them
- Research-focused mentality and keeping up to date with new tech or processes that arise in the industry, or even inventing some of your own
- Strong understanding of real-world pyrotechnics and other naturals, a great feeling of weight, timing, and sense of scale
- Strong understanding of different VFX tools within Unreal, Unity, and propriety
- Strong knowledge of Photoshop
- Solid knowledge of simulation software for the creation of VFX texture assets such as EmberGen, Houdini, and Cinema 4d
- Prior knowledge of a 3D package such as Blender, Maya, and 3D Studio Max
