Fishlabs are scouting for a Technical Game Designer to join their team of developers, designers, and artists, in early pre-production. Based in Hamburg, Germany, the studio has been creating chart-topping games that have been well received by their players for more than 15 years.
Fishlabs are looking to continue building on their success with humble, talented, and creative people who have a passion for making outstanding games and want to be at the forefront of gaming. This role is available either onsite, remote, or with a hybrid working model.
Your responsibilities…
Design, prototype, and implement various gameplay systems using Unreal Engine 5
Create and manage blueprint scripts used across multiple game systems
Troubleshoot technical issues and help fellow team members track down different issues
Be an advocate for improvements to tools, best practices and internal pipelines
Optimise and critique blueprint scripts and usage, assist fellow team members with feature implementation
Produce and take ownership of design specs, balance spreadsheets, and other game documentation
The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role…
3+ years of work experience in a similar role in the games industry
Participation in all relevant phases and stages of the production on one or more finished and released video games
Deep understanding of the Unreal Engine
Proficiency with UE Blueprints
Knowledge and understanding of game design fundamentals
Excellent Math and Logic skills
Very good command of the English language, both written and spoken
High capacity for teamwork and excellent communication skills
Self-contained way of working and high level of self-motivation
Console game experience and a solid C++ programming ability, with multiplayer experience being a bonus
