Job description

Aardvark Swift is supporting ASOBO with their recruitment of a C++ Tools Programmer. This role will include helping both internal teams and third-party creators to develop great content for one of the oldest and most famous franchises in the industry.

You will join the Microsoft Flight Simulator Engine team and support the studio’s artists and programmers through direct contact with teammates who are Tools Programmers, SDK Programmers, Technical Artist, a Full-Stack Developer, a Backend Programmer, Technical QAs, and a Technical Writer.

Your responsibilities…
  • Assume ownership of one or more DevMode editors and have a direct impact on tools quality (UX/UI, performance)
  • Learn about specifications that are already advanced for upcoming tools, challenge them and ensure correct implementation
  • Work closely with your Engine and Art colleagues to find pragmatic solutions adapted to the existing code
  • Communicate with the production teams, take feedback into account, and propose technical solutions
  • Provide support for your tools via studio communication channels
  • Take part in writing the documentation for your tools
  • Present your work to your colleagues during reviews

The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role…
  • In-depth knowledge of C++
  • A passion to develop production tools
  • An appreciation to the well-being of the users of your tools, as well as their satisfaction with the tools
  • Comfortable with communication across teams and seniority levels
  • Well versed in the use of version management tools (Perforce / Git)
  • Experience of UX/UI would be beneficial
