Job description
Offworld Industries, the independent studio behind the much loved tactical military shooter 'Squad', is looking for a passionate Game Designer to join them for their current and upcoming Unreal Engine based multiplayer games.
The studio have just announced their upcoming title “Starship Troopers: Extermination”, a 12-player PvE first-person shooter based on the 1997 cult-classic film. This makes for an exciting period for the team at OWI as they continue their efforts to break the mould and become a leader in creating large-scale multiplayer games that their players love.
Your responsibilities…
- Identify design solutions to evolve game meta and shape overall user experience
- Prepare design pitches to share with team leads group
- Implement and balance game content within UE4
- Design and prototype new and existing features and game systems on paper or in Blueprint
- Drive and follow-up on prototyping, on paper or in Blueprint, with the features team
- Assist other designers and the programming team when it comes to interpreting design requirements for game features
- Collaborate with the other departments to ensure positive communication and problem solving between disciplines
- Encourage creativity through sharing ideas and creating content with team members
- Drive the creation and maintenance of game design documentation
- Ensure designs are communicated with other disciplines on the team to ensure everyone understands the design goals
- Document and or prototype designs, while being mindful of design goals and schedule constraints
- Review designs with appropriate stakeholders to ensure goals are met and a consistent quality is maintained
- Support QA by providing appropriate documentation for design
The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role…
- Bachelor’s degree in game design or related field or equivalent experience in game design
- 2 or more years’ experience as a professional game designer
- Experience implementing gameplay mechanics and features
- Experience in game design and play-testing procedures
- Excellent communication skills, working well within a creative fast paced team
- Ability to take and provide constructive feedback
- Understanding of game design principles for shooter titles
