Job description

Steel City interactive, a fast-growing, dynamic games studio working on exciting new games for consoles and PC, are searching for a Head of Production to take ownership and responsibility for developing features.

Working with the wider team on planning and delivery, you’ll actively generate ideas and bring their team’s collective skills, experiences, and storytelling to an innovative creative process.

Your responsibilities…

  • Define, establish, and evolve best-practice production methodologies and tools across the studio
  • Support directors and their teams on projects to help them achieve high-quality outcomes balancing cost and schedule
  • Drive timely delivery whilst maintaining quality and team health
  • Report to senior studio management and external stakeholders on project progress, issues, and risks
  • Work with Heads of Discipline, the HR, and finance teams to take primary responsibility for the studio’s resource planning
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to support their aspirations for continuous improvements in studio culture, advocating for high-quality, collaborative, and healthy working practices
  • Connect and collaborate external partners to assist in product delivery
  • Mentor and develop the studio production team

The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role…

  • Substantial experience in a production leadership role, in the games industry, on projects at scale
  • Shipped multiple AAA console games
  • Expert knowledge of game development production methodologies, tools, and best practices
  • Experience developing and mentoring a team of producers and motivating a wider multi-disciplinary team
  • Be a role model of personal organisation and communication both written and verbal, able to adapt their style successfully to a wide variety of contexts
  • Experience with Unity is a bonus
  • Experience managing “games as a service” within a Production role is a plus
