Job description

Nottingham based AAA developer Dambuster Studios are working with us to locate a Lead Concept Artist.

As Lead Concept Artist, you’ll collaborate with the Art Director and other Art Leads and lead your team in the creation of concept art for characters, environments, and props.

Your responsibilities…
  • Follow and maintain the art vision and style set out by the Art Director
  • Inspire the concept art team and driving the concept art and technology forward
  • With the Art Director, perform regular appraisals, reviews, and objective setting for the concept team
  • Assist with recruitment and selection of staff for the team
  • Liaise with external service providers
  • Assist in creating briefs and providing feedback for outsourced artwork
The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role…
  • One or more shipped titles in a Lead position
  • Expert knowledge of Photoshop and other digital art tools
  • Excellent drawing and conceptualisation skills with an ability to adapt to established styles and generate character, environment, and prop focused concept art
  • Proven ability to generate a visual solution to a complex brief, whilst adhering closely to the art pillars of the project
  • Solid knowledge of fundamental illustration skills including composition, perspective, lighting, and colour theory
  • In-depth anatomical and architectural knowledge
  • Adaptable and versatile: a can-do attitude
  • People management and project planning experience
A portfolio is required for this role and should demonstrate...
  • High quality, realistic styled examples of concept art images for human based characters, environments, and props
  • High quality, realistic styled examples of production focused illustrations that convey the key aspects of form, function, and material to allow an artist to translate them into game assets
