We’re working with CI games to hire a Lead Engine Programmer to join on a remote basis. Founded in 2002, the studio has been creating globally recognised games for 20 years with their most popular franchise selling over 14 million copies!
This is a crucial role on the team, and you will be responsible for responding to a high volume of technical requests in an organised, effective, and friendly manner. You’ll also be a team player with exceptional attention to detail whilst delivering excellent customer service to those within the studio.
Your responsibilities…
Write robust and maintainable code, optimising it for performance per platform
Develop and implement cutting-edge, intuitive solutions for next-gen gameplay, debugging, maintaining, and extending your own and existing code
Meet game design and technical requirements as well as internal coding standards, communicating with designers, artists, and other coders to ensure satisfactory game requirements and quality
Providing mentorship, direction and best in class programming principles to ensure quality results and efficient working practices
Conduct regular code and staff performance reviews
Work with the production team to plan development and provide task assignment to the programmer’s schedules
Define the functionalities and engine systems required by the game teams
Testing existing systems and propose new systems and feature implementations
Testing, debugging, profiling, optimising and documenting implementations and setting a documentation standard for the Programming Team
Staying up to date with features from other engines and provide expertise about possible implementations
The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role…
5+ years industry programming experience with 2 or more years in a lead role
2 or more shipped AAA projects from start to finish
Excellent C++ skills and experience of Unreal Engine
Strong mentoring and leadership skills
Enthusiasm for writing solid, reliable, efficient code and highly scalable systems
Experience with multiple core systems, such as graphics, tools, audio, networking, memory handling, scripting, etc.
Proficiency with Atlassian software (JIRA, Confluence)
Open-minded team player attitude
Strong work ethic and comfortable working to deadlines
Effective communication skills in English
Good interpersonal skills, able to listen carefully and respond appropriately at all levels
