Job description

We're looking for a Lead Unity Programmer to join an indie studio based on England’s sunny South Coast as they start development on a sequel to their popular online multiplayer game.

As a Lead Unity Programmer you’ll be cutting-edge technologies, including Unity DOTS and Havok Physics and you’ll be empowered to make technical and architectural decisions, and to influence the roadmap for the team and the wider project, working in partnership with your peers across Product, Project Management and Engineering.

Based on site, in a glorious waterside location on Hampshire’s south coast, you'll be joining a true indie environment with a collaborative and supportive atmosphere and motivated by a commitment to continuous learning and development.

Your responsibilities...
  • Planning the project’s technical road map
  • Work with your team to plan, schedule and deliver team commitments
  • Establishing good practice and participate in all phases of software development
  • Lead and manage the day to day running of the Code team, providing technical guidance and mentorship
  • Support your team in the implementation of reliable, maintainable and bug-free code
  • Develop and implement technical design specifications for projects
The skills and experience you'll bring to the role...
  • Worked on 2 or more shipped games from concept to launch in a Lead role
  • Good knowledge of Unity 3D and C#
  • Proven leadership experience with strong people management skills
  • Confident in working with an existing codebase and getting up to speed
  • Exposure to modern infrastructure technologies such as AWS, Kubernetes
  • Experience with modern software development tooling such as Perforce, Git, Gtlab, Jenkins
Bonus points if you are…
  • Knowledgable of ECS DOTS
  • Enthusiastic about the potential of generative AI in coding
The studio offers relocation and visa support, as well as other perks and benefits including flexible working and of course they make sure the team have regular social events and spectacular parties, but the true benefit of working at this studio is their authentic indie status and being the masters of their own destiny.

They alone decide on game features, platforms to release on, release dates and how the game is promoted and marketed, what business models are followed and what prices are charged. That is the freedom that being properly independent brings and that is what this studio is all about.
