Job description
We are supporting Material 10 as they look for a Lead Gameplay Programmer to establish development practices while having ownership over the development pipeline and mechanics.
Material10 is a next-gen gaming studio and publisher working on the inhouse title 'Project Fallen' which is looking to break open a new sub-genre within gaming, bringing together the 3PS and RTS genres together for a highly unique competitive multiplayer experience.
As a Lead Gameplay Programmer at the studio, you will also build and prototype movement, gameplay, sandbox, and other gameplay concepts. This role is catered towards a Lead Programmer or a well-established Senior Programmer looking to move upwards.
Your responsibilities…

Your responsibilities…
- Be responsible for programming team and ensuring strong technical architecture for the game
- Help to build a remote team and the engineering department
- Develop core systems from AI to gameplay mechanics and much more
- Coordinate with the producer to guide the development team on project requirements and timeline
- Optimise and debug applications when necessary
- 5 or more years’ experience developing games
- Experience developing and shipping 2 or more AAA quality games using Unreal Engine
- Knowledge and passion for video games and game development
- Strong desire to honour the player’s time and investment in their ecosystem
- Advanced understanding of Unreal Engine, C++, and industry “off the shelf” solutions
- Experience with source control, collaboration, and distribution solution packages such as GitHub and Perforce
- Firm understanding of import asset pipelines and industry-accepted tools for import of 3D assets
- Team leadership or peer mentoring experience
- Leadership mindset, and ability to help build and plan for the future
- Familiarity with using distribution solutions such as Steam and Epic Game store
- Experience and passion for working on game concepts such as UGC, destructible environments, verticality, parkour, and advanced movement mechanics
- Strong understanding of developing for performance and hardware limitations and developing for various hardware specifications that can scale
