Aardvark Swift are helping to support Climax Studios in their hunt for a Senior Level Designer to join their award-winning team comprised of passionate and experienced Designers in a studio that embraces those who see things in a different way and are not afraid to try new things.

You’ll be working on a AAA IP for a first party publisher where you will be responsible for creating and owning major immersive environments for the game within the Level Design Team from start to finish.

You’ll be joining a studio with a rich history stretching back 30 years, working on some of the most famous titles across the world. From Assassins Creed to Dirt Rally and Crackdown, Climax have worked some of the most exciting AAA titles to have arrived on console, now it’s your turn to join them as they continue to build AAA games.

As a Senior Level Designer you will…
  • Design and build large, immersive levels that create memorable gameplay experiences
  • Keep to project vision for best practices, methodologies used and quality benchmark
  • As part of level reviews, able to accept critique and produce solutions
  • Regularly play the game and provide suggestions and feedback in a clear and constructive manner
  • Able to understand and action the narrative and gameplay ambitions for the levels
  • Self-motivate as well-as work well as part of a team

The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role…
  • Experience working as a Level Designer on at least one published console title
  • A strong grasp of level flow, metrics, and pacing
  • A good visual eye for scene setting sight lines, vistas, and areas of interest
  • Proven experience working within Unreal Engine 4 or 5, as well as with Blueprinting
  • Experience of grey boxing levels to a professional standard
  • Experience in scripting gameplay content in levels such as events, interactions, and encounters
  • Experience with enemy placement/spawn points
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with a creative and multidisciplinary team
  • Level design experience for third person action games would be beneficial
  • Enjoyment of a creative challenge coupled with the passion and motivation to make great games
