Job description

Aardvark Swift are currently supporting Material10 in their recruitment for a talented Unreal Engine Gameplay Programmer. Material10 are currently building a unique MMO game with unique real-time strategy mechanics in Unreal Engine 5 and are looking for an Unreal Engine Gameplay Programmer to help build their game.

Material10 are a next-gen Gaming Studio & Publisher with industry leaders and experts from top companies in gaming, tech, and the blockchain space including EA, Trion Worlds, Bungie, Microsoft, Rockstar, Lucid Games, PlayStation, Amazon, and more. They’re producing a truly enjoyable game experience integrated with blockchain tech including fungible and non-fungible tokens designing a sustainable open economy for gamers.

Your responsibilities…
  • Developing a game that will be leveraging the latest tech that Unreal Engine can provide
  • Helping to establish development practices and development pipeline
  • Coordinating with fellow developers on project requirements and timelines
  • Building and prototyping movement, gameplay, sandbox and other gameplay concepts
  • Optimise and debug applications when necessary
The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role…
  • Experience developing and shipping at least 1 AAA quality game from concept or 5+ years of equivalent experience
  • An advanced understanding of Unreal Engine, C++, and industry “off the shelf” solutions
  • Experience with source control, collaboration, distribution solution packages such as GitHub, and perforce
  • Firm understanding of import asset pipelines and industry-accepted tools for import of 3D assets
  • Team Leadership or Peer Mentoring experience
  • Knowledge and passion for video games and game development
  • Having a strong desire to honour the player’s time and investment in their ecosystem
Bonus points if you have…
  • Familiar with using distribution solutions such as Steam and Epic Game store
  • Have shipped multiplatform (Console or PC) games
  • Experience and passion for working on game concepts such as UGC, Destructible Environments, Verticality, Parkour, and advanced movement mechanics
  • Strong understanding of developing for performance and hardware limitations and developing for various hardware specifications that can scale
  • Experience working on an MMO game
